EASL First Golf Scramble A Huge Success

Not even overcast clouds and a chilly breeze could stop the Exeter Adult Softball league from putting together a successful golf outing this past Saturday, April 17th. From around noon when registration started, to about 7:45 pm when dinner ended, all you saw was laughs being had, golf balls being putted, beers being drank, food being eaten and awards being won. The host Manor Golf Club was phenomenal as always.

Chinese auctions were announced for gift cards from places such as Applebee’s, Olive Garden, Longhorn Steak House and Dick Sporting Goods. There was a 50/50 raffle and of course contests from closest to the pin, longest drive, a putting contest, hole unlucky #13, hole lucky #7 and of course the flight winners. There was 3 flight winners in the group of 30 teams. The Championship Flight winner shot an astounding 16 under, while the second flight winner shot 8 under and the third flight winner shot a 2 under.

The golf cart girls did a tremendous job and were appreciated by many of the golfers. Throughout the course as you cruised around you would see hole sponsor signs from the tournaments sponsors such as Northern Light Lawn Care, Sottosanti Lawn Care, The Beer Mart and Black and Pink Media. The touching gesture of the day came when a group of friends came together to put together a hole sponsor sign for their friend Evan Eckel who tragically passed away in 2019, who used to participate in the Exeter Adult Softball League.

After speaking with people who participated in the tournament it was clear it was a success. According to Rob Dell’Elmo of Johnny and Hons “The Tournament was an A Plus Job”. Suzzane Adam, a golfer stated ‘I will definitely be back next year”, as well as Ryan Gardecki who was a golfer who traveled from a distance to get to the tourney. While the tournament could always improve in some areas, as this is normal for first year tournaments. One thing is clear in that many people had a great time. Don’t worry the Exeter Adult Softball League will be back at it again next April 2022. Stay tuned for an official date announcement in the near future! You will not want to miss out!
